FATRONIK is a private technology centre, providing RTD services to the industry and focusing its activities on improving existing products and devising new innovative and added value solutions for its customers, most of them SMEs. Its RTD field reaches the machine-tool sector and also to the renewable energies and aeronautics sector.

Fatronik's main skills are related to the integrated design of artefacts (machines, automation and production systems, systems for renewable energy …) where both mechanical and control aspects are necessary, thus providing systems with a controlled real time dynamic behaviour.

ISW’s main activities in the field of design, simulation and testing of robotic systems and machine tools are: Design of new direct drive systems for robotics and machine tools, Development of new sensor systems for measuring relative accelerations and signal processing of position encoders, Design and testing of new machine tools based on parallel kinematics, Development of new TCP-measuring methods, and Simulation systems for general “Virtual Machine” approaches.

In the field of control systems ISW has the following main activities: Design and development of open system architectures for controls, Development of basic control components (e.g. kinematics component), of HMI-software design systems and machine information systems, of advanced control components (e.g. collision control component), of communication systems, and of software tools for digital drive systems (e.g. SERCOS interface).

ISG were founded in 1987. ISG - Industrielle Steuerungstechnik GmbH possesses and develops software blocks for setting up numerical controllers ("SOFT-CNC"). Working in cooperation with different well-known machine tool and controller manufacturers, a team of now 25 engineers has since then implemented the most different NC control systems. More than 20 enterprises use the ISG technology for developing their own NC and robot control systems. Every year, they implement thousands of new controllers with ISG software. Various manufactures offer 3-axis solutions, others high-end 5-axis multi-channel controllers. High-end cutting, 5-axis transformation, jerk limitation on the path, 6-axis robot transformation, erosion and laser cutting are some key words that describe the functionality.

ISG do not produce any controllers but offers the software to be used by all those who want to set up their own controller systems. ISG supports such companies with training and enhancement and adaptation work.

Nicolás Correa S.A., founded in 1947, is the mother company of the Grupo Nicolás Correa (Nicolás Correa Group), one of the major European industrial groups, in terms of turnover and innovation, in the design, development and manufacturing of milling machines. Today, thousands of clients worldwide keep trusting our wide range of equipment to meet their machining requirements.

The mission of Nicolás Correa reaches beyond the traditional concept of a machine builder" and focuses more and more on "offering innovative and reliable machining solutions in the industrialized global market together with an excellent service, applying new technologies and TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT principles, focused on obtaining the maximum satisfaction of our customers, employees, shareholders, suppliers and Community."

Thus, today Nicolás Correa is one of the few companies to offer one of the widest and most reliable range of standard segment milling machines together with a portfolio of high performance machining solutions. These milling solutions are optimized to meet the most demanding productivity requirements in fields such as mold & die or the manufacturing of aerospace monolithic components.

The second main pillar of the company's mission is "to promote the development of the Grupo Nicolás Correa taking advantage of the opportunities brought about by the new economy and without any limitations other than the ethical conception of business."

D.Electron was established in 1977, around a nucleus of technicians already experienced in industrial automation for machine tools. Their first products were the electronic tracer GEM1 and a range of SCR d.c. servoamplifiers for axes and spindle. In 1981, and pushed by machine tool manufacturers with special needs for the Numerical Control, the CNC Z16 was developed. Some characteristics are innovative, example number of axes (up to 16), parametric programming, integrated PLC. Since then, the PC based CNCs of D-Electron have much evolved, incorporating digital servodrives, optical-fibre peripherals, new concept of measurement and compensation of the machine dynamics is implemented, Windows NT in real-time, TCP/IP protocol direct network connection, tool monitor system, telediagnosis and teleservice and special features for direct drives (linear and torque motors) allowing a highly accurate control also of light and strongly resonant structures.

The search for the simplest installation and for the operational reliability, software (in the complex Windows operating systems) as well as hardware (in the hostile and noisy workshop environment) is for D.Electron a goal of continuous and primary importance.

Sequoia Automation S.r.l. was originally founded in 1997, in the Turin area, as a R&D centre in electronic design, technical software development and mechanical engineering. Today, it is a thriving company offering technological and innovative solutions for industrial needs.

The R&D activity is an ongoing process in Sequoia. The in-house expertise allows the Company to develop both hardware and software solutions, with application fields which extend to every kind of industrial and measurement problems. The solutions engineered are at the cutting edge of innovation; they make use of smart sensors, electronic vibration and sound wave analysis, parallel robotics, hardware and software interfaces.

Sequoia has a consolidated experience in taking part to research projects at European level. IMS-SIMON (EP26504), HIQU (EP6293) and REMATOVI (BES2-5513) are only some of the projects in which the Company personnel has been actively involved. The “Sequoia Triaxial Acceleration Computer ®” (named SeTAC), is the core product and derives directly from its research activity. The SeTAC is a smart sensor capable of signal analysis, self diagnosis and digital communication.

Sequoia Automation is a small-medium enterprise (SME), however it has gathered over the years, the experience with which to envisage ambitious and complex projects, to deal with the management of the critical aspects and to bring them to a successful conclusion.

The RCMT - Research Center of Manufacturing Technology has been established in July 2000 as an Institute of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the CTU Czech Technical University of Prague. Activities of the RCMT are basically subsidized by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Culture of the Czech Republic. The goal of the RCMT is to build up a highly professional and well equipped educational and training facility as a research base for the Czech production machine industry and for the Czech mechanical engineering as a whole. The RCMT educate young professionals specialized in research and development of machine tools, forming machines and relevant technologies who can consult technical problems and help the industry to develop new generation of products for internal sales and export. Another important objective is to study foreign experience and new prospective technologies of the near future and to generate innovative solutions.

During the existence of the RCMT, 43 research reports and 3 patent pendings have been issued and passed to cooperating industrial plants. Some selected theoretical and experimental results have been published by researchers of the RCMT in more than 60 scientific and technical publications in professional journals and conferences.

One of the running projects in RCMT - Design of an experimental high-speed machine center is one of close project to ECOFIT. The milling machine is developing in Research Center with respecting high request for such machine (4g, 120 m/min, and 60.000 rpm). The machine center should be design and made as top machine tool for HSC with hi-tech solutions. The main approach to reduce mass was used welded steel structure. RCMT is also conducting research into the application of laser technologies in machine tools, the improvement of methods for measuring of machine tool properties, the high-performance and environmentally friendly machining technologies etc.
